The Battlefield Citation award is given to a Veteran who best exemplifies the success the New England Center and Home for Veterans seeks to enable. Each year, one Veteran is selected for this honor to recognize his or her own individual success, and through that story of achievement, exemplify the success of each Veteran served at the NECHV during the year.
David Sibincich worked closely with the Human Services team at NECHV in 2020 during a transitional period in his life when he needed housing. He was recommended for the Battlefield Citation because of his willingness to work hard to achieve housing, his dedication to his fellow Veterans, and his cheerful personality. His support team recommended him for this award because he was dedicated to meeting all of the goals he established, he worked closely with each member of his team and followed up with all that was required for him to qualify for housing, and he stayed true to his course in spite of adversity. Because of all his hard work, and in the company of his beloved pup Maggie, David is now enjoying a beautiful apartment where he occasionally hosts other Veterans for dinner and encouragement on their own journey.
